[VD2] Green, Green Grass Of Home
The subtitle of this blog was taken from a 1966 hit song, "Green, Green Grass Of Home", by Tom Jones. I wasn't born yet in 1966, but the song was my parents' favorite.
It reminds me of the days I spent in Houston, Texas, way back in the 70s. Those were the days when the word "Bicentennial" was heard everywhere.The President then was Gerald Ford, and later, Jimmy Carter took the office. "Saturday Night Fever"," Star Wars"(of course the first one!) and "Grease" were all the rage.
It's really strange. I've only lived there for two and a half years, but it seems like home to me. Or at least my second home.
I could recall the long hot summer. Running around barefoot with neighborhood kids on the spacious lawn. I could almost smell the green grass even now. The days seemed to last forever. I thought I would never be a grownup. But it's all far, far away now.
So, this song brings back those memories of my childhood, and my days in the States. Since the 9-11 and things that happened afterwards, the green grass in my mind seems to have faded very quickly. It's really a shame. I wonder what will become of America, and my country, Japan, as well.

で、気が付いた事がありました。
最近このbiの頻度に関する使い方がかなりいい加減になっています。
具体的には、例えばbiweeklyといった場合、1週間に2回という解釈と、2週間毎という解釈の二つがあるわけです。
（地方差があるのかどうかはミシシッピの西にしか住んだ事がない私はわかりません）
こういった場合は、きちんとtwice a weekなのかevery two weeksなのかそれぞれ言い直して確認することが大切になってきます。

へえ〜、それは興味深い。
biweeklyといえば2週間毎しかないと思っていましたが、確認しないといけないのですね。
